Beginning Phase Three

Mwanga Productions has started work on the French version of PELENDO. The Lingala dialogue has been transcribed from the film sound track, and translated into French. Next, each French phrase will be timed to match the Lingala in length and meaning, as closely as possible. As the voice actor speaks those lines, the film characters on the screen will seem to be speaking French!

                    Pauline and Abe

This is tedious work… a demanding task which is, again, being undertaken by Abraham Kasika, audio engineer who worked with our original camera crew in the Congo. A Congolese currently living in Kampala, Uganda, Abraham has done this work before. While living in Nairobi, Kenya, he was responsible for producing over one hundred African language tracks for the JESUS Film. The technique he uses for this work was developed by Campus Crusade engineers.

Abraham has already been scouting around for people to fill the roles of voice actors. A budget for the recording part of Phase Three is being prepared to cover travel, housing, meals, remuneration, and use of studio. Please PRAY with us that these funds will soon be available… we have started in faith that God will supply! (Phil.4:19)

                                 Ernest recording

Ernest is fluent in French as well as English. He did such a good job with the English version that Abraham has decided to use him in the French version! But Abraham will still have to find some 25-30 voice actors in Abidjan to voice the other parts required in recording 72 pages of script!

                         Richard's production studio

We have been offered the use of a television studio in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), where all the work can be done under Abraham’s supervision. When he finishes recording the dialogue, he will send the discs to Richard in Florida, who will then lay that speech into the sound track, matching it to the appropriate scenes.

Following completion of the French version we anticipate doing Phase Four in KiSwahili, which is a widely spoken language of East Africa.

If you, your friends, or your church group would like to sponsor one of these languages, or have a part in helping with this project, please feel free to contact me:
